About SoloMoneyStack

Business money, from someone who actually runs a business

SoloMoneyStack exists to answer one deceptively hard question: what’s the best way for a solo business owner to handle their money?

When you’re a team of one, the “money stack” — your business banking, your business card, how you invoice, how you keep the books — is the plumbing that everything else runs on. Get it right and it fades into the background. Get it wrong and you’re chasing late invoices, paying fees you didn’t notice, and dreading tax season.

The problem is that most of the advice out there is written for companies with finance departments, or it’s a wall of “top 10” lists optimized to rank rather than to actually help. SoloMoneyStack is the opposite of that.

The real-operator difference

This site is written from lived experience, not a content brief. I run a micro-business myself, I’ve driven for gig platforms to keep cash flow moving, and I’ve built my own tools from scratch — including a trading bot — because that’s what solopreneurs do: figure it out. I’ve opened the accounts, paid the fees, hit the annoying limits, and learned which tools respect your time and which ones waste it.

That perspective is the whole point. Every recommendation here is filtered through one question: would this actually help a business of one?

How we cover products — and how we make money

SoloMoneyStack is free to read, and it’s funded by affiliate commissions. Some links on this site are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you open an account or make a purchase — at no extra cost to you. That funding never buys a positive review.

Our standard is honesty over hype:

  • We recommend only tools we’ve researched and evaluated against the needs of solo operators.
  • When we’ve personally used a product, we tell you. When we’re evaluating it based on research, we say that plainly — we never fake first-hand experience.
  • We flag the downsides, not just the upsides. A tool that’s great for freelancers might be wrong for a product business, and we’ll say so.
  • We keep pages current, because banking terms and fees change.

One important thing

SoloMoneyStack is an educational resource, not a financial advisor. Everything here is general information to help you make your own informed decisions. We don’t know your specific situation, and nothing on this site is personalized financial, legal, or tax advice. For that, talk to a qualified professional who knows your circumstances.
